ANEURIN BEVAN A WELSH NATIONAL HERO and WHY NOT? Remembering the 5th July 1948 and 6th July 1960 Today and Tomorrow.

.
I don't know how it happened to such an extent as it did and so fast other than the gradual 'stepping stones' toward my leaving behind my families 'Hwntw' Labour roots. But I did. In a big way too! as soon as I left school a young teenager teenager, I hit the ''sixties'' running with much conspiring to make of me a patriot. More and more becoming Patriotically, rather than 'politically aware', yes! a 'Victim of the Sixties'. Possibly on the down side why wasit that I became anti - labour, maybe that had something to do with such as Leo Abse and their blinkered view of Wales and Welsh Nationalism. But it was George Thomas that turned me into being anti - Socialist in state of radical patriotic mind, only 'politically corrected' with spending two years in a self imposed 'Irish Exile' post Adfywaid Gwladgarol'69.
.
Now from an 'high hill' of being too old to remember much but hold enough to at least question much, not least with regards to the 'state of play', politically and otherwise in Wales and the World today. I ask myself if many 'Cultural Nationalists' regard Lloyd George as a ''Welsh Hero'' why cannot radical political Welsh Nationalists and Republicans not regard Anuerin Bevan as a National Welsh Hero. Even considering not only he be remembered in commemorative ceremony in Cardiff annually on anniversary of his death 6th July 1960 but also perhaps consider the 5th July, anniversary of founding of the NHS as an 'Independence Day', for was it not from thence that people were given Freedom from much ill health!
.
.
Thus this tribute but with a purpose: I propose that Cardiff City Council place a stand in which people can place flowers for two days 5 - 6th July annually, these flowers each night being distributed to 'Senior Citizen' Care Homes in and about the City. Further, I suggest to Cardiff Council, if request is made, that Age Concern be allowed to set up a Stall & Exhibition Stand close to the Anuerin Bevan Statue in Queen Mary Street, to inform the public on their work and raise money for their charity concerns. Every one please support this proposal, backing it up with letters to Politicians, Councillors and the media far and wide. Diolch! If you can place floral tributes today or tomorrow, please do so, that would be great and take photos and put them on your own blogs and websites etc.
